Seat maps & reserved seating
Seating is part of the promise made to a ticket buyer. Lookport supports general admission, open seating and allocated seats so inventory can reflect the venue.
Match the ticket to the room
Allocated seating gives a buyer a particular place; open seating gives access to a seating area without a reserved seat; general admission can cover a standing floor. These are different promises, so describe the chosen arrangement clearly on the event page and each ticket type.
Build inventory around the final venue configuration. Check section names, rows and seat labels against the room plan, and account for seats the venue has held back before publishing availability.
Set up the workflow
Agree the room configuration, ticket types and capacities. Check labels and reserved sections with the venue, then review the buyer’s choice before going on sale.
A theatre with a standing floor
For a mixed-format concert, sell the floor as general admission and the balcony as allocated seating. Explain the difference before checkout so a buyer does not mistake access to a section for a reserved seat.
Before launch, walk through one purchase from each area and compare the resulting ticket details with the entrance team’s plan. If the room layout changes, review the affected inventory before offering those places again.
