How to price concert tickets
Build a ticket price around costs, realistic attendance and a clear offer, then test your assumptions before going on sale.
Separate capacity from expected attendance
A room’s capacity is a limit, not a sales forecast. Estimate several attendance scenarios and calculate the costs at each one. Include fixed production costs, variable costs per guest and the fee model.
Calculate the contribution of each ticket
Subtract platform fees, payment processing and variable costs from the amount your business receives. The remainder contributes to fixed costs. Keep taxes, refunds, complimentary tickets and other revenue explicit in a fuller event budget.
Make tiers understandable
Use tiers when there is a clear commercial reason: a limited release, a different seat or a genuinely different package. State what changes between tiers. A lower early price should not obscure the overall offer.
Treat demand signals as input
Review sales pacing against the event date and promotional activity. Dynamic pricing is a decision to manage carefully, not a guarantee of higher income. Use a calculator to explore assumptions, then check them against the actual event plan.
